Here's an idea that I came up with to help fund my daughter's band related expenses.
In addition to the annual can and bottle drive, I asked friends and family members to save their returnables on an ongoing basis. The money collected for the returnables can then be deposited into your child's student account periodically to pay for band camp, or any other band related expenses. You can either have your student bring in a check payable to "Algonac Band Boosters" or bring the check yourself to the next band booster meeting.
